How to Wear White

The biggest concern about wearing white is the fact that it has the tendency of making you look bigger than you really are. Everybody believes that white will show off all the lumps and the bumps that you always try to hide. But let’s change that belief and bust the myth because white, like any other color can both make you and break you. All you need is a little bit of fashion how-to and confidence.
Here’s the 411 on how to wear white this season and keep it fresh.

Full skirt
Instead of the usual pencil and miniskirts, opt for fuller skirts as seen here on the spring runway of Bottega Veneta. They are more flattering and allow more room for movement. Complete the look with a skinny belt and a slouchy tank top.

Layering
alexander-wang
Layer everything white on top of each other. Designer like Alexander Wang introduced baggier and almost tomboy-like silhouette for the summer. This particular look comprising of oversized pants and cropped jacket layered over a button-down underneath is just so effortless.
Minimal for evening
derek-2

Instead of all out white glitter or crystal bursts on your evening dress, try something plain and minimal for evening. This long sheath dress from Derek Lam is the epitome of summer-chic with the right amount of curve display and fabrics.
Mix it up
jil-sander2

Pair your white with other summer brightest hues like pink, orange and turquoise. It’ll give a fresher look and makes the whole outfit pop.
Sheer
bcbg
Try something sheer without showing too much skin. A peek a-boo of skin showing at the bottom of the dress and shoulder like this on this BCBG Max Azria dress looks divine on just about everyone. Stick to looser silhouette because white shouldn’t be sheer and tight at the same time.
Tailored
stella-mccartney
When in doubt, go with something tailored and menswear inspired. Stella McCartney suits are cut to perfection for women’s body to accentuate the curves. It can be seen on the high-waisted pants and the tailored shirt worn underneath.
Now nobody should be afraid of white, whether you’re big or small. It’s for everyone. Just make sure that you know the cut and silhouette that works for you. With your confidence in check, now get out there and work your whites.
